The Existing Tanks

Dhobi Dhara currently boasts of two water tanks.  Each has a ten thousand litter capacity.  Theoretically they are filled twice a week from a spring and reservoir at the top of Delo Hill and dispersed to the neighbourhood of ~250 houses two times a week.  Each dispersal time can last anywhere between one and two hours.  Two realities interfere with this theoretical framework.

This gentleman is responsible for the twice weekly dispersal of water.
First the water does not always come at the appointed time since the pipes above are manually operated and the pipe-opening guy might linger over his morning tea.  Therefore the tanks often overflow before they can be dispersed to the neighbourhood.  Much water is lost at these times.
Second, the water doesn't always come.  As I am writing this post, our friend Shanti told me that the water used to come twice a week but these days it's only coming once and we are just at the end of monsoon when the water should be plentiful.

Our plan is to build a concrete water tank to place under these two tanks.  This will triple the storage capacity and put an end to the senate, to their cherished fleet... oh wrong speech... and keep overflow water from being wasted.  Also this project will be completely public, all funds donated, and paid out for material and labor will be recorded and receipts posted here.  Plus we will be recording the construction progress with daily updates, you will get to watch your money provide water to this community.
